ÜBER EINEN LÄNGEREN ZEITRAUM HINWEG KOMMEN ENTLANG DER DONAU KONTINUIERLICH KLEINERE MEIST DEUTSCHSPRACHIGE GRUPPEN MIT IHREN FAMILIEN, DIE SICH AM RANDE RUMÄNISCHER DÖRFER ANSIEDELN, NEUE ORTE GRÜNDEN UND BIS HEUTE ZUR IDENTITÄT DER REGION BEITRAGEN.

Synopsis

Das durch die strukturelle Kolonisation mit deutschstämmigen Siedlern und Siedlerinen während der K.u.K–Monarchie des 18. Jahrhunderts stark geprägte Gebiet des Banats spiegelt – bedingt durch seine Geschichte, Politik und Migration – dieEinflüsse zahlreicher europäischer Kulturen in einzigartiger Weise. Nach fortwährender Umstrukturierungen, Kriegen, geopolitischen Grenzverschiebungen, sozialistischer Planwirtschaft und neokapitalistischer Konsumgesellschaft steht das Banat heute emblematisch für eine sich im Wandel befindliche Welt. 

Es herrscht nicht nur geographisch eine Transit-Situation zwischen der „alten“ und der „neuen“ Welt, in der die eigene Identität in einem ständigen Abgleich neu er- und gefunden werden muss.

EXPOSÉ

Mittels Zugang zu exklusiven Interviews mit Zeitzeug:innen, Expert:innen, privaten Aufnahmen, Archivmaterial und Szenen aus dem Alltagsleben des modernen Banats, nähert sich STATION BANAT aus zeitgenössischer Perspektive grundsätzlichen Themen wie individueller Identität und kollektiver europäischer Geschichte.

So steht das historische Schicksal dieser weitgehend unbekannten Peripherie seit den frühen 2000er—Jahren am de juro Rande Europas stellvertretend für globale Phänomene und Zusammenhänge unter den Vorzeichen stetiger Veränderungen und Anpassungen. Ziel ist es, ein zeitgenössisches Abbild zu schaffen, welches die unterschiedlichen historischen und kulturellen Aspekte reflektiert und eine Brücke zu aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Fragen baut. 

Die Geschichte der deutschen Minderheit steht in diesem Zusammenhang für einen innen– und außeneuropäischen Migrationsprozeß und spiegelt aktuelle Fragen und Probleme der Zeitgeschichte wider. Das Banat als reiche multi–ethnisch geprägte Kulturregion birgt das Potenzial zur Analyse in ganz besonderer Weise. Welchen Widerhall findet die fernen Geschichten dieser Ethnien in der Gegenwart?

HINTERGRÜNDE ZUR ENTSTEHUNG DES FILMS

Thematischer Ausgangspunkt des Films ist die persönliche Verwurzelung des Autors in der Region, die Auswirkungen historischer Flucht und Vertreibung, die omnipräsenten Auswirkungen und die Auswirkungen der Globalisierung im Kontext der EU-Erweiterung, die Dynamiken der Arbeitsmigration osteuropäischer Saisonarbeiter:innen, der alltäglichen Verlagerung von Notwendigkeiten sowie die Aufarbeitung historisch bedingter Traumata. 

Der Film ist das Ergebnis einer persönlichen Wiederannäherung: angefangen 2017 mit einer Wanderung von Deutschland nach Rumänien in das ehemalige Dorf, fortgesetzt 2018 mit lokalen Projekten im Banat zum Europäischen Kulturerbejahrund einer Publikation zum 100-jährigen Jubiläum des modernen Staates Rumäniens und ab 2019 der Teilnahme am Programm Temeswars als „Europäische Kulturhauptstadt 2023“ verschmelzen die Ergebnisse und Themen zu einem einzigen Ergebnis zusammen. 

Besser als eine zeitlich und örtlich eingeschränkte Ausstellung, kann der Film spontan und flexibel an zahlreichen Orten physisch und in verschiedenen Kontexteneinem möglichst grossen Publikum zugänglich gemacht werden – zusätzlich ist der Film als kostenlose Vorführkopie unbeschränkt online zugänglich. 

Entstanden inmitten der globalen Corona-Pandemie, reflektiert der Stil des Films die Schwierigkeiten, inmitten der Pandemie zu Reisen, Interviews zu führen oder direkt vor Ort im Banat Material zu sammeln. Insofern wird der Film auf dem bereits vorhandenen Material der vorherigen Projekte aufbauen und – sobald es die Lage wieder zulässt – bis 2023 mit neuem Filmmaterial ergänzt. Im Herbst 2019 fand bereits eine Ausstellung in Temeswar im Rahmen des Projektes als Teil von „Temeswar – Europäische Kulturhauptstadt 2023“ statt. Um weitere Schwierigkeiten im Zusammenhang mit dem Verein der Ausrichtung der Kulturhauptstadt zu vermeiden, mündet auch deshalb das Gesamtprojekt ganz bewußt im Medium des Films.

PRODUKTION UND MARKETING

Als Ergänzung des seit 2017 laufenden ANA–Projektes zum kommenden Kulturhauptstadtjahr 2023 in Temeswar/Rumänien wird STATION BANAT einen Fokus auf die Geschichte der Deutschen Minderheit im Banat werfen und damit eine kosmopolitische Allegorie nachzeichnen. Einerseits fungiert der Film als komplementärer Bestandteil der langfristigen Beschäftigung mit dem Thema in Form des ANA-Projektes (Recherche 2017-2018, Zwischenpräsentation / Ausstellung 2019, Workshops 2018-2019, Film 2021-2022, Publikation 2023) zur Präsentation des Kulturhauptstadtjahres in Temeswar 2023 und andererseits als eigenständiger Film für Panels, Kino, Open-Air, On-Demand, Streaming etc. 

Der Eventcharakter des Themas verdeutlicht die Entscheidung, den Film im Rahmen einer Tour im Kontext der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt 2023 an unterschiedlichen Orten im Banat zu präsentieren, zusammen mit lokalen Gesprächspartnerinnen und Partnern einzuführen und individuell zu diskutieren. Der Film soll durch die Aufmerksamkeit während der Feierlichkeiten zur Kulturhauptstadt wirksam positioniert werden und später auch in Deutschland vorgeführt werden.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

STATION BANAT thematisiert ein politisch und gesellschaftlich relevantes Thema, hat einen klaren Bezug zur Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, besitzt auch internationale (vor Allem Europäische) Relevanz und ragt durch tiefgründige Recherche, exklusive Zugänge und eine außergewöhnliche und kreative Handschrift heraus. 

STATION BANAT greift aktuelle Herausforderungen auf: Austausch und Bewegung, Grenz– und Begegnungsräume, Erinnerung und Aufbruch sowie die Frage nach dem Stellenwert von kulturellem Erbe. In Form einer künstlerisch verwobenen Montagewerden diese Themen generations- und sprachübergreifend zugänglich gemacht und zur Diskussion gestellt. 

Der Film wird ohne Zugangsbeschränkungen unentgeltlich als Stream veröffentlicht und steht Dritten zur anderweitigen Verwendung zur Verfügung. Er soll sowohl zur einzelnen Vorführung entlang von Vorträgen geeignet sein aber auch als eigenständige Installation künstlerischen Ansprüchen genügen.

SOUTH-EASTERN EUROPE, EARLY 18TH CENTURY IN THE KINGDOM OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY:

PRINCE EU OF SAVOY WINS THE WAR AGAINST THE TURKISH INVASION FOR THE HABSBURGERS AND LIBERATES THE BANAT.

A DEPOPULATED AND DESTATED REGION REMAINS. DUE TO THE LACK OF QUALIFIED SPECIALISTS, THE VIENNA COURT CHAMBER DECIDED TO SETTLE THE TERRAIN RICH IN NATURAL AND NATURAL RESOURCES WITH IMMIGRANTS FROM THE ENTIRE MONARCHY.

OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, SMALLER, MOST GERMAN-SPEAKING GROUPS WITH THEIR FAMILIES COME ALONG THE DANUBE, SETTLEING ON THE FRONTIER OF ROMANIAN VILLAGES, FOUNDING NEW PLACES AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE REGIONAL IDENTITY TODAY.

Synopsis

The area of the Banat, which was strongly influenced by the structural colonization with settlers of German origin during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy of the 18th century, reflects – due to its history, politics and migration – the influences of numerous European cultures in a unique way. After constant restructuring, wars, geopolitical border shifts, a socialist planned economy and a neo-capitalist consumer society, the Banat is now emblematic of a changing world.

There is not only a geographical transit situation between the „old“ and the „new“ world, in which one’s own identity has to be reinvented and found in a constant comparison.

EXPOSE

By means of access to exclusive interviews with eyewitnesses, experts, private recordings, archive material and scenes from everyday life in modern Banat, STATION BANAT approaches fundamental topics such as individual identity and collective European history from a contemporary perspective.

Since the early 2000s, the historical fate of this largely unknown periphery on the de juro edge of Europe has represented global phenomena and connections under the sign of constant changes and adjustments. The aim is to create a contemporary image that reflects the different historical and cultural aspects and builds a bridge to current social issues.

In this context, the history of the German minority stands for a internal and external European migration process and reflects current questions and problems of contemporary history. The Banat as a rich multi-ethnic cultural region has the potential for analysis in a very special way. What echoes do the distant histories of these ethnic groups find in the present?

BACKGROUND TO THE MAKING OF THE FILM

The thematic starting point of the film is the author’s personal roots in the region, the impact of historical flight and expulsion, the omnipresent effects and the effects of globalization in the context of EU enlargement, the dynamics of labour migration of Eastern European seasonal workers, the everyday shifting of necessities and the processing of historical trauma.

The film is the result of a personal rapprochement: starting in 2017 with a hike from Germany to Romania to the former village, continued in 2018 with local projects in Banat for the European Cultural Heritage Year and a publication for the 100th anniversary of the modern state of Romania and from 2019 participation in the Timisoara’s program as „European Capital of Culture 2023“ merge the results and themes into a single result.

Better than an exhibition limited in time and place, the film can be made available spontaneously and flexibly to the largest possible audience, physically and in various contexts – in addition, the film is freely accessible online as a free screening copy.

Made in the midst of the global corona pandemic, the film’s style reflects the difficulties of traveling, conducting interviews or collecting material directly in the Banat in the midst of the pandemic. In this respect, the film will build on the existing material from the previous projects and – as soon as the situation permits – new film material will be added by 2023. In autumn 2019, an exhibition took place in Timisoara as part of the project as part of „Timisoara – European Capital of Culture 2023“. In order to avoid further difficulties in connection with the association organizing the Capital of Culture, the overall project very deliberately ends in the medium of film.

PRODUCTION AND MARKETING

As a supplement to the ANA project, which has been running since 2017 for the upcoming Capital of Culture year 2023 in Timisoara/Romania, STATION BANAT will focus on the history of the German minority in the Banat and thus trace a cosmopolitan allegory. On the one hand, the film functions as a complementary component of long-term employment

with the topic in the form of the ANA project (research 2017-2018, interim presentation / exhibition 2019, workshops 2018-2019, film 2021-2022, publication 2023) for the presentation of the cultural capital year in Timisoara 2023 and on the other hand as an independent film for panels, cinema , open air, on demand, streaming etc.

The event character of the topic illustrates the decision to present the film as part of a tour in the context of the European Capital of Culture 2023 at different locations in the Banat, to introduce it together with local partners and to discuss it individually. The film is to be effectively positioned through the attention during the celebrations for the Capital of Culture and will later also be shown in Germany.

SUMMARY

STATION BANAT addresses a politically and socially relevant topic, has a clear connection to the history of the Federal Republic of Germany, also has international (especially European) relevance and stands out with in-depth research, exclusive approaches and an extraordinary and creative signature.

STATION BANAT takes up current challenges : exchange and movement, border and meeting spaces, memory and departure as well as the question of the importance of cultural heritage. In the form of an artistically interwoven montage, these topics are made accessible across generations and languages and put up for discussion.

The film will be released as a stream free of charge without access restrictions and is available to third parties for other uses. It should be suitable for individual presentations along with lectures, but also meet artistic demands as an independent installation.

Rezumat

Zona Banatului, care a fost puternic influențată de colonizarea structurală cu coloniști de origine germană în timpul monarhiei austro-ungare din secolul al XVIII-lea, reflectă – datorită istoriei, politicii și migrației sale – influențele numeroaselor culturi europene în un mod unic. După o restructurare constantă, războaie, schimbări geopolitice de frontieră, o economie planificată socialistă și o societate de consum neo-capitalistă, Banatul este acum emblematic pentru o lume în schimbare.

Nu există doar o situație de tranzit geografic între lumea „veche” și cea „nouă”, în care propria identitate trebuie reinventată și găsită într-o comparație constantă.

EXPUNE

Prin accesul la interviuri exclusive cu martori oculari, experți, înregistrări private, material de arhivă și scene din viața de zi cu zi în Banatul modern, STATION BANAT abordează subiecte fundamentale precum identitatea individuală și istoria colectivă europeană dintr-o perspectivă contemporană.

De la începutul anilor 2000, soarta istorică a acestei periferii în mare măsură necunoscute la marginea de juro a Europei a reprezentat fenomene și conexiuni globale sub semnul schimbărilor și ajustărilor constante. Scopul este de a crea o imagine contemporană care să reflecte diferitele aspecte istorice și culturale și să construiască o punte către problemele sociale actuale.

În acest context, istoria minorității germane reprezintă un proces de migrație europeană intern și extern și reflectă întrebările și problemele actuale ale istoriei contemporane. Banatul, ca regiune culturală bogată, multietnică, are potențialul de analiză într-un mod cu totul special. Ce ecouri găsesc în prezent istoriile îndepărtate ale acestor grupuri etnice?

CONTEXTUL REALIZĂRII FILMULUI

Punctul tematic de plecare al filmului îl reprezintă rădăcinile personale ale autorului în regiune, impactul fugei și expulzării istorice, efectele omniprezente și efectele globalizării în contextul extinderii UE, dinamica migrației forței de muncă a lucrătorilor sezonieri din Europa de Est, schimbarea cotidiană a necesităților și procesarea traumei istorice.

Filmul este rezultatul unei apropieri personale: începând din 2017 cu o drumeție din Germania în România până în fostul sat, a continuat în 2018 cu proiecte locale în Banat pentru Anul European al Patrimoniului Cultural și o publicație pentru aniversarea a 100 de ani a statului modern. a României și din 2019 participarea la programul Timișoarei ca „Capitală Europeană a Culturii 2023” îmbină rezultatele și temele într-un singur rezultat.

Mai bine decât o expoziție limitată în timp și loc, filmul poate fi pus la dispoziție în mod spontan și flexibil celui mai mare public posibil, fizic și în diverse contexte – în plus, filmul este accesibil gratuit online ca copie de proiecție gratuită.

Realizat în plină pandemie globală de coronavirus, stilul filmului reflectă dificultățile de a călători, de a realiza interviuri sau de a colecta materiale direct în Banat în plină pandemie. În acest sens, filmul se va baza pe materialul existent din proiectele anterioare și, de îndată ce situația o va permite, până în 2023 se va adăuga material nou de film. În toamna anului 2019, la Timișoara a avut loc o expoziție în cadrul proiectului din cadrul „Timișoara – Capitală Culturală Europeană 2023”. Pentru a evita alte dificultăți în legătură cu asociația care organizează Capitala Culturii, proiectul de ansamblu se termină foarte deliberat în mediul filmului.

PRODUCȚIE ȘI MARKETING

Ca o completare la proiectul ANA, care se desfășoară din 2017 pentru viitorul an Capitală a Culturii 2023 la Timișoara/România, STATION BANAT se va concentra pe istoria minorității germane din Banat și va urmări astfel o alegorie cosmopolită. Pe de o parte, filmul funcționează ca o componentă complementară a angajării pe termen lung

cu tematica sub forma proiectului ANA (cercetare 2017-2018, prezentare/expoziție interimară 2019, ateliere 2018-2019, film 2021-2022, publicație 2023) pentru prezentarea anului capitalei culturale la Timișoara 2023 și pe pe de altă parte, ca film independent pentru panouri, cinema, în aer liber, la cerere, streaming etc.

Caracterul de eveniment al subiectului ilustrează decizia de a prezenta filmul ca parte a unui turneu în contextul Capitalei Culturale Europene 2023 în diferite locații din Banat, de a-l prezenta împreună cu partenerii locali și de a-l discuta individual. Filmul urmează să fie poziționat eficient prin atenția în timpul sărbătorilor pentru Capitala Culturii și va fi difuzat ulterior și în Germania.

REZUMAT

STATION BANAT abordează o temă relevantă din punct de vedere politic și social, are o legătură clară cu istoria Republicii Federale Germania, are și relevanță internațională (mai ales europeană) și se remarcă prin cercetări aprofundate, abordări exclusive și o semnătură extraordinară și creativă.

STATION BANAT preia provocările actuale: schimbul și mișcarea, granița și spațiile de întâlnire, memoria și plecarea, precum și chestiunea importanței patrimoniului cultural. Sub forma unui montaj împletit artistic, aceste subiecte sunt făcute accesibile între generații și limbi și puse în discuție.

Filmul va fi lansat ca stream gratuit, fără restricții de acces și este disponibil terților pentru alte utilizări. Ar trebui să fie potrivit pentru prezentări individuale, împreună cu prelegeri, dar, de asemenea, să îndeplinească cerințele artistice ca instalație independentă.
